Atty. Cruz obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 2005. Her law school thesis resolved to discuss the jurisdictional conflict in the Construction Industry Arbitration in the Philippines.
During law school, Atty. Cruz was an active oralist/mooter for international moot court competitions. Atty. Cruz was part of the Philippine Team to the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2005. She was likewise part of the 2004 Ateneo Philippine Team to the 2004 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Competition in Vienna, Austria.
Atty. Cruz obtained her undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of the Philippines, Diliman in 2001 (Cum Laude standing).
In 2006, Atty. Cruz attended the Project and Procurement Management Course at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).
In 2007, she received a scholarship grant from the International Committee of the Red Cross for a Post Graduate diploma on International Humanitarian Law (IHL). In 2008, Atty. Cruz successfully completed her Post Graduate Diploma in International Humanitarian Law from NALSAR University in Hyderabad, India. Likewise, Atty. Cruz has received intensive training on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) here and abroad, notably in 2008 she attended the Southeast and East Asia Teaching (SEATS) Course on IHL in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in 2010 the Rules of Engagement Workshop at the Istituto Internazionale di Diritto Umanitario (International Institute of Humanitarian Law) at San Remo, Italy.
Atty. Cruz is a law professor at De La Salle University College of Law and Arellano University School of Law, specifically handling International Moot Court, Public International Law and Human Rights & International Humanitarian Law classes.
Likewise, she coaches Ateneo de Manila University teams to international moot court competitions. Atty. Cruz was the coach of the Ateneo Law team that placed 2nd over-all in the 2007 Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. She is also the coach of the Ateneo team to the 2008 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Competition in Vienna, Austria, with the distinction of the being the first, and so far the only, Philippine team to break into the Octo-Finals of the competition besting more than 500 teams worldwide.
Atty. Cruz was an associate for Ongkiko Kalaw Manhit & Acorda Law Offices (OKMA Law) from 2005-2006, where she handled civil, criminal, labor, special proceedings and corporate cases.
Thereafter in late 2006, Atty. Cruz joined the Supreme Court of the Philippines Program Management Office as a Court Attorney. Atty. Cruz was tasked of handling judicial reform programs for the high court funded by the World Bank under the Judicial Reform Support Project. She is the focal person for the Justice on Wheels project, Enhanced Caseflow Management System and Reengineering of the Court’s Jurisdictional Structure. Likewise, Atty. Cruz headed the secretariat for the Bids and Awards Committee for the Action Program for Judicial Reform (BAC-APJR) and was thus heavily involved in procurement law and processes.
In November 2007, Atty. Cruz joined the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a Geneva based international humanitarian organization, as its Programme Manager. She was the lead manager for ICRC projects with the military, police and the academe.
At present, Atty. Cruz is the Legal Adviser of ICRC. She likewise supervises the programs of the ICRC with military, police and national agencies.
Atty. Cruz is also a regular Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) lecturer on the subjects of Public International Law and International Humanitarian Law.
Atty. Cruz is a member of both the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and Federacion Internacional de Abogadas (FIDA). She is likewise an active alumni of Ateneo Society International Law (ASIL).
